We all know that Google Search console(Google Webmaster tools) is very helpful for SEO of our blog. Recently WordPress SEO by Yoast added a new feature, The name is Search console in its latest version 2.3 updated. It is a fundamental integration with Google Search console. It will help you to stay updated with Google Search crawl errors and issue related to your blog from your WordPress dashboard. I assume that you already submitted your blog on Google Search console. If you are not done please follow this tutorial and submit your blog first.
In this Tutorial, I will show you how to use search console Feature in Yoast Seo and how you can Fix all crawling issue related to your blog from your WordPress dashboard. Follow the Step by Step.
How to use Search Console feature in Yoast SEO
Login to your WordPress Dashboard and ensure that you are using the latest version of WordPress SEO by Yoast plugin. If not then Install and setup WordPress SEO by Yoast. Now Click on SEO> Search console. You will see a screen as shown below.
Now Click on Get Google Authorization. It will popup a window where you need to authenticate your plugin Yoast SEO with Google account to access your search console account.
Click on Allow and you will get a code that you need to paste in search console setting page. After then click on authenticate and select your blog profile and click on save the profile.
Now you have successfully integrated your search console feature in Yoast SEO. This would let you access all Crawling errors and issue from your WordPress dashboard.
What can you do with search console feature in Yoast SEO:
Now you can see all the links that will give access errors in crawling. Here is the screenshot from Tricks Academy Search console feature in Yoast SEO page.
Here you can see that Tricks Academy has 11 not found errors. Same thing your blog also show some not found errors. Your aim is to make this error list zero. Each link shows you 3 options.
- Create redirect
- Mark as fixed
Tricks Academy uses free redirection plugin for create redirect of not found link. See the screenshot add redirect link for not found (404 error) link.
Select the source link from search console feature in your SEO. Redirect this link to suitable target link. You can monitor traffic on redirection link in Tools>Redirection. When you successfully redirect your Not found error link then mark this link to as fixed.
Do remember this will be an ongoing process. You should work once or twice in a month to resolve crawling error and issue.
