A sitemap is an XML file which contains the URLs inside your blog. This file helps to crawlers to find all of the URLs of your blog. There are many facts crawlers follow like size of sitemap, number of URLs inside the sitemap. In short, A sitemap is a complete index of your blog that you want to search engine bots to see. For a website, we use an online sitemap generator to create sitemap file and submit into webmaster tools offered by Google and being. For WordPress blog, we use plugin to create sitemap. It will automatically keep updating the sitemap file as publishing new post on blog. So we don’t need to resubmit sitemap after publishing new article.

What is Google Webmaster tools?
Google is a very popular search engine. We all know about Google. I think a 5-year-old child also know about Google. There are many tools offered by Google which are used by many peoples like Gmail, Google Drive etc. Google Webmaster is a free tool that lets you control your website from the search engine perspective. If you are a serious blogger then you can’t avoid this tool. It is very helpful for SEO. It gives you the complete information about your site in Google search engine.
Webmaster Tool provides many tools that analyze your website thoroughly. You can work on that for making batter ranking of your blog in search engine. Remember Search Engine Optimization(SEO) is a gradual process doesn’t happen in overnight. Sometimes it takes weeks, months to get proper search engine ranking. Here I will be sharing about submit sitemap to Google Webmaster tools step by step.
If you are adding your website the first time. Login Google Search Console and click on add property and enter your website name and submit it. Now next is you have to verify your website ownership.

How to Generate sitemap for your WordPress blog
Sitemaps can be generated in different ways depending on the platform you are using for you website. In the market, there are many online and offline tools where you can generate sitemap for your blog. If you are using WordPress SEO by Yoast plugin. You can generate sitemap easily in XML sitemap tab.
I assume that you know how to generate sitemap. Now we will learn about submit sitemap to Google Webmaster Tools.
Submit sitemap to Google Webmaster Tools
After Verifying the website, next task is to submit sitemap to google webmaster tools. Login in Google Webmaster Tools Dashboard . Inside Google Webmaster tool dashboard, on right side you will find sitemaps option under Crawl where you can add new sitemap.
This is your first step. This will eventually help Google to crawl your site effectively. You can track you website that how many links are submitted and how many are indexed. You can also find that how many sitemaps to submitted by you and your team members. You can also Track how many images are submitted on Google and how many are indexed.
If you are submitting sitemap for your new website. It will take some time for you to see the index status.
